Eve of AGM 2014 Geographers 7 - Hythe, Hampshire
A dry if rather grey afternoon in Southampton suddenly turned to a long spell of torrential rain. The celestial fire hose struck as Geographers were making their way to the terminal for the Hythe Ferry, for the crossing of Southampton Water and an evening of eating, drinking and chat at the Lord Nelson Inn at Hythe. The bus journey from Southampton Central to the pier saw the start of the aqueous assault from above. The deluge had stopped by the time of boarding the ferry and a smooth crossing followed by a ride on the oldest pier railway with a short walk took us to the venue for the evening. Here are Geographers renewing old acquaintances, putting faces to names and discussing future plans, generally having a pleasant time in good company. Time taken 5.29 pm BST (British Summer Time).
