Melford Hall
Melford Hall was built at the start of the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, although little of the Elizabethan work survives inside, not helped by a fire in 1942 which destroyed much of the North Wing. Beatrix Potter was a frequent visitor to the house and set many scenes in her books here.
This view across the garden looks to the back of the house which faces the Green at Long Melford.
