Centenary Hall, Chapel Street
Centenary Hall, Chapel Street
The original building dates from 1802. It was modified and renamed in 1902, its centenary year, as 'Centenary Hall'. After decades of what the official Guildford guide terms "mixed further use", the hall stood empty for several years until it re-opened in 2004 as the Loch Fyne Restaurant. The 'mixed further use' includes being a rehearsal venue for several local amateur dramatic groups, which is how I remember it - very dusty and neglected - from the 1990s.
