Station Road & London Road Junction, Nottingham 1
Beyond the bridge carrying vehicles on the A60 road across the eastern end of Nottingham Railway Station is the former Nottingham (London Road/Low Level) Railway Station. This former station, designed by the local architect Thomas Chambers Hine, was opened by the Great Northern Railway Company in 1857. Regular passenger traffic ceased using it from May 1944 although it continued to be used by freight traffic until either "December 1972"or "June 1981" (depending upon which 'historian' recounts the station's demise).
