William Bailett Memorial, St Oswald's church, Strubby
A monument to William Bailett and family.
His two wives Joan (Garton) married 1588, and Susannah (Dethick) are shown. Behind are his 9 children, two sons and a daughter by Joan, and by Susannah 5 sons and a daughter. He died in 1648 aged 99.
He was son of Edward Bailett of Suffolk, and sometime Alderman of London and lived at Woodthorpe Hall. Strubby was originally with Woodthorpe before the airfield was built in 1942.
Unusually, the children are shown above and behind the adults, at their own prayer desk.
