Compton parish church: interior
Compton parish church: interior
Showing Norman details and the curious 'double-decker' sanctuary.

According to Pevsner, the two-storeyed sanctuary is a rarity in an English parish church - the only other example he could cite was at Melbourne, Derbyshire. The reasons for building such an elaborate structure here at Compton are unknown.
