Claymills Victorian Pumping Station - E Engine House
Claymills Victorian Pumping Station - E Engine House
This is a modern replica of the electric pump house built in 1914 and demolished before the Trust gained access in 1993. It was rebuilt to house the Trust's collection of steam engines formerly used on site but no longer able to be shown in their original position (due to demolition of a large part of the site). This was built by the volunteers with a 5000 grant from Awards For All. The two big red valves are from the 12" steam main in the boiler house. These had been replaced as one succumbed to thermal shock and cracked at the first trial steaming in 1999.
