Victoria Park, Leicester LE1
The Lutyens designed War Memorial on the western edge of Victoria Park, to the east of the city centre. This is a view along the 1/4 mile long Peace Walk that leads gently uphill to it from a decorative gateway on University Road. It is dedicated to the people from Leicester who died in the First World War (1914-1918). Interestingly a "Peace Tree" planted years ago by the Leicester Peace Action Group, that is located between - and slightly behind - two hedges to the right of the top right-hand flower bed, can easily go unnoticed. As a result it doesn't appeared to have been photographed for this website?
