Pump House and Bridge
Pump House and Bridge
This swing bridge on Merchants' Road is a vital transport link at the western end of Bristol Harbour - joining the north and south banks across the entrance lock. Unlike virtually all other bridges in the area, it does not seem to have its own accepted name. The nearby Pump House used to power its opening and closing by hydraulic means but, these days, electric pumps and oil pressure control the dockside machinery.
