Milepost on Hollowgate Bridge
Milepost on Hollowgate Bridge
The road name is that of the former turnpike trust, but these cast iron posts, made by Brayshaw and Booth of Liversedge, were erected by the West Riding County Council in the late 19C. They are mostly triangular in section, mounted on stone, but where space is tight they are flat plates like this one. There is a similar one in Brighouse on Huddersfield Road.
