This large bronze statue is one of several items of public art on display to the public in St Pancras. Sited at the south end of the upper level the 9 metre (29.5 foot) high 20 tonne bronze is named 'The Meeting Place' and is beneath the station clock. It is the work of a British artist named Paul Day and is supposed to evoke the romance of travel through the depiction of a young couple locked in an amorous embrace, either meeting or departing on separate journeys.

The sculpture received at best a mixed critical reception, with well known sculptor Antony Gormley describing it as "a very good example of the crap out there" when referring to the often poor public art available in the UK.

It's better than no art for sure. I personally like it.

Who is it that said "stop looking at art as art and start thinking about it as a catalyst or trigger for a new experience" - Brian Eno I think.
