Cefn Coed Colliery Museum - steam engine
This horizontal ingle cylinder engine was used by Taylor & Sons at Briton Ferry and was for a period on display at the local history museum in Neath SS7597 : Steam Engine, Neath Museum. It was built by Ray Mead in London and the claimed date is c1880 but that composite flywheel (wrought iron spokes and cast rim and hub) suggests an earlier date. The Pickering governor is almost certainly a later addition. It is now displayed next to the much large and more modern steam winding engine (1600 horsepower and 1927).
