Cheapside Street fire memorial plaques
Cheapside Street fire memorial plaques
One of the two plaques by the Clyde Walkway at Cheapside Street. The fire resulted in Britain's worst peacetime fire services disaster when 19 service men where killed on 28th March 1960.

The small plaque on the front reads as follows...

"This community art project mosaic
was created
by the pupils of
Anderston and St Patrick's primary schools
in association with
Impact Arts in March 2010
to commemorate the 50th anniversary
of the large bonded warehouse fire that occurred
in Cheapside Street where 14 Glasgow Fire Service
& 5 Glasgow Salvage Corps members
lost their lives".
