Former Railway Line
The original Glasgow & South Western Railway line from Ayr, constructed in 1860, ended at the Newton Kennedy side of Girvan harbour where a goods yard and coal quay were developed. This area of grass-covered ridges shows where wagons were aligned with bays for loading the coal. Girvan Rotary Club refurbished the coal dock in 2005 to create McCreath Park with a garden and walkway to mark the organisationís centenary.
