Buoy Barnacles (Dosima fascicularis) on Easting beach
Buoy Barnacles (Dosima fascicularis) on Easting beach
The beach was strewn with these barnacles, which are pelagic, attaching themselves to small pieces of flotsam and debris, but aiding the buoyancy of the small object by secreting a substance, visible at the centre of the photo, which helps them float. They are related to the goose barnacles.
