St Peter's, Upper Framilode
Framilode was a favourite place of the Gloucester poet Ivor Gurney, of whom I'd never heard until I did some Googling to find out something about the church. But he mentioned the place in one of his poems and kept a boat here when he lived in the area around a century ago.
The church appears Norman, but was in fact built in 1854 for the spiritual nourishment of the workers on the estate of the local landowner. There's a weatherfish on the top of the spire instead of a weathercock. In the foreground is a fence which guides walkers on the Severn Way over the floodbank which borders the river here.
