Traditional Weavers' Cottages
Traditional Weavers' Cottages
Cottages at the end of Glendoune Street, showing the typical single-storey design that was established by the handloom weavers who once lived and worked here. The existence of an extra window near the door can indicate a former handloom weaving house, although later adaptations to the properties can affect the accuracy of this assessment. The extra window would give as much light as possible for the loom, which was usually located near the door.
