Junction of routes, Malo Cross
Junction of routes, Malo Cross
Malo cross on its east side has the initials `K', `R' and `E' which are those of Sir Richard Egerton, who erected the cross in 1619 as a marker on the boundary of his manor in the parish of Allerston; the cross still marks the boundary between the parishes of Allerston and Lockton; the photograph is taken from the latter parish. This is also an ancient junction of routes which are indicated by the finger post.
