Verity points skyward by Lantern Hill
Damien Hirst's controversial statue entitled "Verity" holds the sword of justice aloft on the pier at Ilfracombe. The artist has lent the sculpture to the town for 20 years, and although not popular with every local, apparently she has boosted tourism to the town considerably.
Behind her can be seen Lantern Hill rising to about 28m (92') with the Grade I listed LinkExternal link St Nicholas's Chapel lighthouse on its top.
At 66' (20m) Verity became the tallest statue in Britain when she was erected on 16th October 2012.
