Capstone Hill, Ilfracombe
Capstone Hill, Ilfracombe
Capstone Hill is composed of slate, a metamorphic rock that has been folded under extreme pressure creating the interesting geology of this coast. These rocks are geologically important and are known as the "Ilfracombe slates".
Capstone Hill rises to 48m (157') and is the tallest hill on Ilfracombe's bit of the coast though much higher ones are to be found in either direction along the coast.
