NS2575 : The end of a path to Pennyfern Road

taken 4 years ago, near to Larkfield, Inverclyde, Great Britain

The end of a path to Pennyfern Road
The signpost is for "Coves Reservoir". The path is signposted, near its beginning, as leading from the Greenock Cut to Coves Reservoir.

Pennyfern Road itself is visible just ahead. There used to be a farm near here: the first and second editions of the OS map (c.1858 and c.1898) call it Pennyfarm, but later maps called it Pennyfern, which, as it happens, is the authentic older form. For example, Roy's map (1740s-50s) also features Pennyfern, with that spelling.
