The Air Despatch Dakota at RAF Brize Norton
The Douglas DC3 Dakota has, since Arnhem, been the emblem of the RAF's Air Despatch. The Air Despatch Association bought this Dakota aircraft as a memorial to Despatchers who lost their lives in the service of their country. This particular aircraft flew during Operation ‘Dynamo’ (The Berlin Airlift). It stands outside 47 AD Squadron RLC at RAF Station Brize Norton. It was moved here in 2002 the squadron relocated from RAF Lyneham.
