Embsay: The 'Elm Tree Inn'
For many years an old elm tree stood on the middle of the square in front of the pub, but it eventually succumbed to Dutch Elm disease, and had to be taken out. It was replaced by another elm, but that lasted less than ten years before it, too, had to go. It was`replaced by an acer variety seen on the extreme right of the picture
