The Marylebone Green Children's Playground in the south-east corner of Regent's Park has recently been redesigned and refurbished at a cost of £350,000. Some of the structures, including this slide, have a "brutalist" architectural feel to them. The term brutalism apparently is an adaptation of the French term béton brut, or "raw concrete", a term used by the French architect Le Corbusier to describe his choice of material. British architecture critic Reyner Banham adapted this term into "brutalism" (originally "New Brutalism") to identify this emerging style.
