Site of the proposed Abbot’s Mill Project, St Radigund Street
The mission of the Abbot’s Mill Project is to develop an urban hub of environmental and social excellence, powered solely by installing a water wheel on the River Stour into the old mill race on the site of the former Abbot’s (Denne’s) Mill (a seven-storey mill that once stood on St Radigund’s Street). This will include an education centre, a vegan community café, a community-led woodland/wildlife garden LinkExternal link I wrote to the Abbot's Mill Project on 6 September 2014 to point out that the Stour at Canterbury is prefixed with Great rather than River and later that day received this message "Many thanks for your email. You are quite right of course. We will check all the text on our publicity material and amend accordingly. The information board on site is due an update as soon as the funds become available so we will amend that then". This could be the reason why the link is not active at present.

At present, one is welcome to walk along paths that have been laid on the site and admire the fine display of nettles and brambles! The family just happened to be passing as I took my photo – I imagine the lady hoped to spoil the shot by raising her hand but I had no idea she had, until I came to download it onto my computer.
