St Mary, Bromfield
St Mary, Bromfield
The gatehouse, the wide open spaces of the churchyard and the fragment of an Elizabethan mansion attached to the church sets an intriguing puzzle for the church crawler. Henry II founded a Benedictine priory here in 1155; a religious house had already been here for 100 years. What remains is a fragment of all that history.
