Kensington Palace Gardens, London
The existence of an Orangery here dates from 1704 when Queen Anne had an elaborate greenhouse built in an an elegant palace style to protect her citrus trees from the winter frosts. She also used it and the gardens as a venue for fashionable court entertaining, away from the hubbub of Whitehall. It is currently used as an up-market restaurant.
