Schrimshire's Road railway bridge
Schrimshire's Road railway bridge
The railway was the cut-off line built by the Manchester Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway (later Great Central Railway) to avoid Gainsborough. Still used by coal trains to Cottam Power Station, for which it had to be strengthened. The track is a public footpath, but agricultural traffic keeps the water muddy so the depth is uncertain. You will certainly need tall wellies to get through without getting feet wet.
