View from South Greenford station
The Greenford branch of the Great Western Railway had been used for regular passenger services since 1904, but the halt at South Greenford did not open until 20th September 1926. It was originally named South Greenford Halt but, like Castle Bar Park Halt to the south, the suffix was dropped on 5th May 1969.

At present, signage on the station carries an alternative name for the station - "West Perivale".

There are no buildings at the station and each platform is reached by a long ramp up from the A40 (Western Avenue). This view looks from the down platform up the line in the direction of Castle Bar Park station. It can be seen how straight the line is.
