Southall Park
Southall Park
The park was once the grounds of Southall Park House, designed by Sir Christopher Wren and built in 1702 for Sarah Jennings, later to become the Duchess of Marlborough. The house ceased to be a private house from 1839, when it became a private asylum until 1883. The last owner was Dr Robert Boyd. In 1883 the house, which was then a private asylum run by Doctor Boyd, was burnt to the ground, killing the owner and five others. This led to the founding of the Southall Fire Brigade.
