Remains of the Foxe mansion, Bromfield.
Remains of the Foxe mansion, Bromfield.
At the Dissolution, the Priory passed through several hands until purchased in 1558 by Charles Foxe, who converted the ancillary buildings into a substantial house. This was destroyed by fire in the 17th century and the present church took shape. A remnant of Foxe's house survives, attached to the South side.
