NY5996 : Kink in the Border Line at Hawkhope Hole

taken 3 years ago, near to Deadwater, Northumberland, Great Britain

Kink in the Border Line at Hawkhope Hole
Kink in the Border Line at Hawkhope Hole
Probably for political reasons, rather than geography, the England-Scotland Border marked by a wall downhill from Thorlieshope Pike, swaps from one side of the Hawkhope Hole water-course, across to the other. Deadwater lies down below the trees. Here the Border turns briefly left along the former railway line, then back on its course to cross the valley watershed and steeply ascend Peel Fell (left).
