View of J.R.Tolkien rounding the corner into Greenwich Peninsula #2
J.R. Tolkien was originally a seagoing tug built in East Germany and was then known as Dierkow. She was the height of technology for her time, boasting a diesel electric propulsion system. After the collapse of the Berlin Wall it was hard to keep the tug in operation - she was noisy and inefficient and the company that owned her went bankrupt. She was purchased by her current owner in 1995, renamed and transformed into her current glory.
