The track approaching Langden Castle
The track approaching Langden Castle
The 'castle' is actually a shooter's lodge securely locked and barricaded against all except paying guests. It was not always so. Forty years ago I recall staying overnight here with school friends on an 'expedition' from Chipping, sleeping in cheap sleeping bags on a cold concrete floor. Those were indeed 'the days'. We departed in the morning leaving no trace. Sadly, nowadays many people seem to see no problem leaving all their rubbish for others to take away. The valley of Langden is still impressively wild, reminiscent of parts of the eastern Highlands.
