SN3110 : Rescuing an historic building

taken 4 years ago, near to Laugharne, Carmarthenshire/Sir Gaerfyrddin, Great Britain

Rescuing an historic building
Rescuing an historic building
This ruined building was once the 'bell tower' for the ferry across the Taf to Laugharne. A lady volunteer from the local community can be seen [left of centre] busily removing ivy from the stonework so that consolidation of the building can take place. It is thought that the ferry last ran in the 1950's, the boat being summoned from Laugharne by ringing a bell housed within this building.
