Winson Green railway bridge
The West Coast Main Line railway crosses the Old Main Line canal via this bridge. The Old Main Line is James Brindley's original, and rather circuitous, canal route between Birmingham and Wolverhampton, which was straightened by Thomas Telford with the New Main Line - he eliminated many of the loops to north and south by cutting his way through the landscape rather than following the lie of the land. Shorter, and more efficient, but arguably less scenic.
