Wagon tippler
Wagon tippler
The ironwork at the right of this image is the remains of a double wagon tipper, which delivered the raw feed to the Penmaen Mill SH7075 : Penmaen Crushing Mill. The rails of three feet gauge run parallel to the central spindle, about which the short section of track rotated. The wagon, which was held captive by chains, was of special design so that it could be emptied from the side. The incline, along which the loaded wagons descended from the West Quarry is also seen, with its drum-house on the skyline. The rock fell into the feed apron SH7075 : Feed apron bridge which acted as a stockpile for the primary impact crusher.
