Twyford Pumping Station - gas engine and pump
Twyford Pumping Station - gas engine and pump
The former filter house now contains two internal combustion engines driving reciprocating pumps. This one is an 1895 Crossley hot tube ignition gas engine to Otto & Langen's four stroke design and is driving a Climax pump recovered from a mansion at Broughton, Hampshire. The engine now runs on propane but would have initially run on town gas (mainly carbon monoxide and hydrogen).
