SP0189 : Old Main Line canal

taken 4 years ago, near to Smethwick, Sandwell, Great Britain

Old Main Line canal
Old Main Line canal
The route of James Brindley's Old Main Line, superseded when Thomas Telford built the New Main Line route between Birmingham and Wolverhampton. It is still navigable, and makes a pleasant walk or ride for much of its length, except perhaps the stretch right under the M5 between West Bromwich & Smethwick; that said, that too has a uniqueness to it.
