Pettycrate Lane and Langdon Lane
Pettycrate Lane and Langdon Lane
Junction of Pettycrate Lane and Langdon Lane, below Langdon Hill. Both lanes are unsealed minor roads (although the former is recorded only as a public footpath beyond the junction): before the construction of the turnpike (now the A35), Langdon Lane was surely the main route west out of Chideock. Both lanes remain in pretty good condition, with a stone metalled surface. In the hedgerow above Pettycrate Lane is a National Trust guidepost, which represents Pettycrate Lane as a bridleway which historically must have been its minimum status, despite the present status as a footpath.
