SY8279 : The Lulworth Crumple

taken 4 years ago, near to West Lulworth, Dorset, Great Britain

The Lulworth Crumple
The Lulworth Crumple
The tectonic movements that tilted the rocks along the coast almost vertical also resulted in varying degrees of folding. This rather spectacular fold in the Purbeck Beds is aptly known as the Lulworth Crumple. It is at the east end of Stair Hole. The continuation of these beds a few tens of metres west of here are not folded. See SY8279 : Purbeck Beds.
