SH7075 : Inclines intersection 2

taken 4 years ago, near to Penmaenmawr, Conwy, Great Britain

Inclines intersection 2
Inclines intersection 2
A view from the southern incline down to the intersection level. The massive steel frame necessary to carry the winding drum and act as a bridge over the track to the Penmaen Mill can be appreciated from this altitude. Heather has grown thickly across the track of the incline, but wooden sleepers are still to be found in situ. Traffic diverging to the right passes over a small weighbridge which is still in place with its balance beam (Pooley & Sons, Birmingham & London, No. 511). Such items of scrap metal remain as a consequence of the difficult access to the area.
