Man o' War and Durdle Door
Man o' War and Durdle Door
The coast path has been diverted uphill and inland here, because the original path has become too dangerous due to rock falls. So this is the best view you can now get as you approach Durdle Door without disobeying the safety signs and possibly endangering yourself. The Man o' War is the ridge of rocks at lower left, and the famous arch is on the far side of the headland in the middle of this view. Both are formed of more erosion-resistant Portland Stone, while the softer rocks nearer the shore have been eroded away. On the right is Swyre Head, and the lower headland furthest away is the Bat's Head.
