Redundant postbox, Wootton Rivers, Wiltshire
The black paint is an indicator that the postbox is no longer in use. The fact that the paint is wearing away revealing the original red shows that it has been out of use for quite a long time. The insignia 'GR' with no Roman numeral suggests that the box was installed during the reign of George V, the first monarch of the House of Windsor, who reigned from 06 May 1910 until his death on 20 January 1936.
