NZ6705 : Felling Spruce trees

Felling Spruce trees
Felling Spruce trees
A surprisingly capable machine has been brought in to clear this small plot of spruce trees.
It seems to cut them with a guillotine action, then strip branches and cut to length without letting go of the tree.
They were planted in the mid 1960s and have never been thinned - so the wood has little value, but there is a lot of it considering the small area.
It's likely the area will be replanted; it is marked on older maps as rough or scrubby so will not make a good field.
