Stanwell Moor Road is an unusual road in that it runs between the embankments of King George VI Reservoir Staines Reservoirs - see Link

In the words of Ian Nairn in Nairn's London (1966): "The many and varied needs of outer London throwing up a man-made combination which is already intriguing and could be superb. The road runs in a narrow cutting between steep grass banks which have sheep grazing on them to complete the surreal feeling that this ought to be in the West Riding. A 132-kV electricity grid line marches down the middle, and the result is a memorable discordance. The valley is formed by the retaining walls of two reservoirs. They are mostly inaccessible, but a footpath runs up on the eastern side to a landscape which is magnificently absurd."

The sheep were nowhere to be seen but the rest still rings true. This is the path up to the reservoirs. The top of the tower seen in Link can just be seen. For what Ian Nairn says about the walk between the reservoirs and a photograph of the path see Link
