Grand Union Canal: Aylesbury Arm: Bridge No 6
Grand Union Canal: Aylesbury Arm: Bridge No 6
This is another original farmers' accommodation bridge over the canal that now only carries a public footpath over it and as such has not received the battering that the road bridges have suffered. This example is little altered since it was built between 1811 and 1814 when the canal was completed and as such merits Grade II Listing status. The field pattern either side of the canal has little altered here too, and a glance at satellite imagery shows how the original hedge boundaries of the fields that the canal was cut through still exist on either side of it.
