Peeping over the remodelled north front of c1692 is the distinctive Tudor hexagonal tower built by Giles Strangeways and described by Leland in 1540 as both 'loftie and fresch.' To the right is the entrance archway of the stable and service court added by *Devey in 1884-5 (*George Devey, architect, 1820-1886. Source: Wikipedia).
