SK3436 : 65 Friar Gate, Derby

taken 5 years ago, near to Derby, Great Britain

65 Friar Gate, Derby
65 Friar Gate, Derby
Very large town house - eight bays and three storeys, the centre brought forward. As Pevsner remarks, it looks early C18th but was in fact built in 1884 by Arthur Coke-Hill. Good Greek Ionic porch (SK3436 : Detail of 65 Friar Gate, Derby). Grade II listed.
Recently Friar Gate House School, but at the time of the photo empty, awaiting a new use. Update: at October 2014 it is being restored as a family home (thanks to John Sutton).
