Coralline Crag in tower of St Peter, Chillesford
The stone from which the tower is constructed is Coralline Crag blocks of which can be seen here. Though laid down a little more than 2.5 million years ago this fossiliferous rock is very new in geological time. It is also unique to this area of Suffolk. See TM3852 : St Peter, Chillesford for a more extensive view of the tower.
